The Structural Monitoring, Assessment and Rehabilitation using Frontier Technologies (SMART) Research Network brings together world-class researchers and institutions in the disciplines of SMART to act as a major catalyst for multi-disciplinary research, development and education.

Programmes initiated by SMART aim to build and foster multi-lateral relationships between research groups at Universities, Cooperative Research Centres and Government organisations, and to further strengthen international involvement in Australian research efforts.

The SMART web site provides a gateway to:

• The network's mission, goals and programmes
• It's participants and currently available infrastructure and technology
• An extended list of hyperlinks to other web sites relevant for SMART.

The development of the SMART network is an initiative made possible with the generous support of the Australian Research Council (ARC) through the ARC Special Research Initiatives program 2004 .
